Professions
Gather from the land, then turn what you gather into something worth having. Each ledger below lists every recipe, every catch and every number we know, straight from the game.
The ledgers
Herbalist's Ledger
Herbs, their hidden traits, what a fumbled pick does to you, and where Threadreed grows.
Skinner's Ledger
Hides, furs and scales: which animals give what, the skill each one needs, and what the Tanner pays.
Angler's Ledger
Every fish in the sea and the ponds, when they bite, the junk, the bottles -- and the thing that sometimes looks back.
Smith's Ledger
The bone tier: twelve weapons and pieces of armour, their materials, skill and stats. Plus taking gear apart.
Cook's Ledger
Fourteen dishes, what they restore, and the Well Fed bonus each one gives.
More trades are on their way: Leatherworking, Fletching, Weaving, Enchanting, Jewelcrafting and Taming.
How every skill works
- From 0 to 100Every skill, gathering or trade, runs from 0 to 100. You get better by doing it.
- 300 points in allAll your skills together can't go past 300. Once you're there, a new gain takes points from the skill you've used least recently.
- Use it or lose itA skill you haven't used for a whole week (logged in or not) loses 5% of itself. Using it once a week keeps it safe.
- Learning recipesLearn recipes from a trainer's Train tab, or by reading a recipe scroll (right-click > Read). Rare recipes only come as scrolls.
- Your recipe bookPress K, or type /craft, to open it. Recipes are coloured by how hard they are for you.
- Where rare scrolls come fromAny humanoid foe 2%, bosses 15%, bandit treasure chests 30%, messages in bottles 30%.
Recipe colours
| Your skill vs the recipe | Colour | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Below it | Red | You can't make it yet. |
| 0 to 5 above | Orange | Hard. Most skill per success. |
| 5 to 15 above | Yellow | Comfortable. Still teaches well. |
| 15 to 25 above | Green | Easy. Teaches a little. |
| 25 or more above | Grey | Trivial. Teaches nothing. |
Crafting, the fine print
- Will it work?60% when your skill exactly matches the recipe, +1.5% for every point above it, up to 97%.
- A fumbleHalf of each material is wasted, and you still learn a little (+0.01).
- Skill per successAbout +0.08 when you're new, shrinking as you improve, never less than +0.02 while the recipe still teaches.
- How long3 seconds for the simplest things, longer for harder ones. Walk away and it stops; materials are only used when each item finishes.
- Quality of crafted gearUnder 10 points above the recipe: grey, 80-100% of normal stats. 10 or more above: white, 100-110%. From 20 above there's a chance of green, 110-125% plus a magic bonus -- 5% at +20, rising to 40% at +40.
- Item levelCrafted gear is item level 1 + (recipe skill / 5). Each level adds 3.5% to damage or armour. You can wear anything, but each level you're short of its required level (item level - 3) costs 10% of its strength, down to half.
